Sir Edward Acton's Life
Edward Acton was born near Bridgnorth, in a place called Aldenham Park, Shropshire. His father was Sir Walter Acton.
In 1643, he was given a special title: the 1st Baronet Acton of Aldenham (which is also known as Aldenham Hall, in Morville). A Baronet is a title of honour, like a knight, that can be passed down in the family.
In 1624, he married Sarah Mytton.
Fighting in the English Civil War
Sir Edward was a Royalist. This means he supported King Charles I during the English Civil War. This was a big fight in England between those who supported the King and those who supported Parliament.
He fought in important battles, including the Battle of Edgehill. He also took part in the Siege of Bridgnorth.
His Time in Parliament
Sir Edward was chosen to be a Member of Parliament (MP) for Bridgnorth twice. An MP is someone who represents their local area in the country's government meetings, called Parliament.
His first time as an MP was in April 1640. His second time was from November 1640 until February 1644. During this time, he was part of both the Long and Short Parliaments. He also sat in King Charles I's Parliament in Oxford.
Sir Edward Acton passed away around June 1659.
