Anthony D. Wheaton (born June 3, 1970), who is better known by his stage name Sir Jinx, is an American hip-hop record producer and rapper from Los Angeles. He is the cousin of the famous producer Dr. Dre.

Sir Jinx started his music journey in the mid-1980s. He was a member of the group C.I.A. along with Ice Cube and K-Dee. He has produced music for many well-known artists, including Westside Connection, Too Short, Yo-Yo, and Xzibit. He has also created remixes for bands like Rage Against the Machine and Public Enemy.

Music Career

Starting in the 1980s

Anthony "Sir Jinx" Wheaton grew up in South Central Los Angeles, not far from where Ice Cube lived. Jinx was already a big fan of hip-hop music and culture. When he and Ice Cube met, they became good friends because they liked the same things.

Jinx's cousin was the producer Dr. Dre, which was a big deal to Ice Cube. Jinx introduced them, and this meeting helped start their music careers. With some other friends, they formed a group that would become C.I.A. (which stands for Cru' in Action!).

In 1986, the group, then called the Stereo Crew, released a single called "She's a Skag". It was produced by Dr. Dre. When the single didn't sell well, the group was dropped from their record label. They were then joined by another rapper, K-Dee, and changed their name to C.I.A. In 1987, they released the single "My Posse". Soon after, Ice Cube and Dr. Dre became busy forming the group N.W.A, so C.I.A. broke up.

Success in the 1990s

After Ice Cube left N.W.A, he started his own record label called Lench Mob Records. Sir Jinx, along with other artists, joined him. Jinx worked with Ice Cube and the production team The Bomb Squad to produce Ice Cube's first solo album, AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted, and his EP Kill at Will. Both were released in 1990 and were very successful, selling over a million copies each.

In 1991, Sir Jinx was very busy. ..... He also produced most of Ice Cube's album Death Certificate. This album included the famous diss track "No Vaseline", a song that responds to criticism from his former group.

Jinx continued to work with big names. In 1992, he produced tracks for Ice Cube's album The Predator and Yo-Yo's album Black Pearl. He also worked with East Coast rapper Kool G Rap on his album Live and Let Die. During this time, he also created remixes for the rock band Rage Against the Machine.

After working on Ice Cube's 1993 album Lethal Injection, Sir Jinx and Ice Cube stopped working together for a while because they had different ideas about the direction of the music. Jinx then started producing for R&B singers like CeCe Peniston and Isaac Hayes. After releasing a solo album in 1995, he returned to producing hip-hop for artists like Xzibit.

Working in the 2000s

In the 2000s, Sir Jinx continued to produce music. In 2003, he produced a song for the comedian Eddie Griffin's movie Dysfunktional Family. That same year, he also produced a track for the group Westside Connection on their album Terrorist Threats.

He also worked on albums for rappers Kurupt and Xzibit. For most of this decade, Sir Jinx kept a lower profile, working on various projects without being in the spotlight as much.

The 2010s and Beyond

In 2010, Sir Jinx and Ice Cube worked together again for the first time in many years. Jinx produced the song "Life in California" for Ice Cube's album I Am the West. He also announced that he would be helping his cousin Dr. Dre with his highly anticipated album, Detox.

In 2011, Sir Jinx formed a new group called General Population with Tri Star and Dat Boi Hop. They released an album that featured many guest artists. .....

Film and Television

Sir Jinx has also appeared on television. He has co-hosted the show Rap City: Tha Basement on the channel BET. He has also been a DJ for TV shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live! and "The Orlando Jones Show".

In 1993, he had a small role in the movie Poetic Justice, which was directed by John Singleton.
