Captain Sir John Norman Ide Leslie, 4th Baronet (born December 6, 1916 – died April 18, 2016) was a special kind of noble called a baronet. People often knew him as Jack Leslie. He was the fourth person in his family to hold this title. His family home was the famous Castle Leslie in Ireland.

Early Life and War Service
John Leslie went to Downside School and then to Magdalene College, Cambridge for his education. He never married or had any children.
During World War II, he served as an officer in the Irish Guards. He fought in the Battle of France and was captured at Boulogne-sur-Mer. He then spent five years in special camps for prisoners of war (POW camps).
Life After the War
After the war ended, Sir John Leslie moved to New York City. Later, he traveled around Europe and lived in Rome for a while. When he was 78 years old, he returned to his family's home, Castle Leslie, in Ireland.
In 2001, for his 85th birthday, he traveled to Ibiza. He accidentally told reporters that the wedding of Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills would happen at Castle Leslie. He said it was "a secret," but the news was out!
Sir John also appeared on television. In January 2012, he was in a show called Secrets of the Manor House. This program talked about the Leslie family and their home, Castle Leslie. In 2015, he was featured in the TV series Tales of Irish Castles.
On November 9, 2015, he received a special award called the Legion d'Honneur. This award was given to him at the French embassy in Dublin.
Family Connections
Sir John Leslie was related to some famous people. His paternal grandmother, Leonie Jerome, was the sister of Lady Randolph Churchill (born Jennie Jerome). Lady Randolph Churchill was the mother of former British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill. This made Sir John a first cousin once removed of Sir Winston Churchill.
His mother, Marjorie Ide, was the daughter of Henry Clay Ide. Henry Clay Ide was an American who used to be the Governor-General of the Philippines.
In 2006, Sir John Leslie wrote a book about his life called Never A Dull Moment. He passed away in April 2016 at the age of 99.
His Family
Sir John Leslie was the elder son of Sir John Randolph Leslie, 3rd Baronet, and Marjorie Ide. He had an older sister and a younger brother.
- Anita Theodosia Moira Rodzianko King (November 21, 1914 – November 5, 1985) was a writer. She was married to Commander Bill King, who was a submarine commander and yachtsman during World War II. They had two children.
- Desmond Arthur Peter Leslie (June 29, 1921 – February 21, 2001) was a pilot, filmmaker, writer, and musician. He was married twice and had five children.
