Skottie Young (born March 3, 1978) is an American comic book artist, children's book illustrator, and writer. He is famous for his work with many Marvel Comics characters. Skottie Young is also known for his comic book versions of L. Frank Baum's Oz books. He worked on these with Eric Shanower. Another popular series he created is I Hate Fairyland. He also worked on a series of novels with Neil Gaiman called Fortunately, the Milk.

Skottie Young's Amazing Career
Skottie Young moved to Chicago in 2000 from Tennessee. Around this time, he started working for Marvel Comics. His first projects included drawing the Spider-Man Legend of the Spider Clan mini-series. This was part of the Marvel Mangaverse. He also worked on Human Torch and New X-Men. He even wrote one issue for New X-Men.
Drawing for Marvel Comics
Young drew a six-issue New Warriors mini-series. It came out in June 2005. Zeb Wells wrote this series. It showed the team as stars of a reality TV show.
He has drawn covers for many comic books. These include Cable & Deadpool, Spider-Man, Deadpool, and Iron Man. He also created a very popular series of "Baby Variant" covers. These covers featured baby versions of Marvel heroes.
Oz Books and Rocket Raccoon
Skottie Young received great praise for his work on The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. This series became a New York Times Best Seller. It also won an Eisner Award. Marvel Comics published this series. He and Eric Shanower adapted five more books from the Oz series.
Young wrote and drew a Rocket Raccoon solo series for Marvel Comics. It started in July 2014. This series came out before the Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Young said he wanted the series to feel like old Looney Tunes cartoons. He liked how those cartoons were not always "squeaky clean." He enjoyed bringing that fun style to a superhero universe.
Creating I Hate Fairyland
From October 2015 to July 2018, Young wrote and drew I Hate Fairyland. This was a comic book series he created himself. Image Comics published the series. He drew the first 20 issues.
In 2018, Marvel launched new titles as part of their Fresh Start plan. Skottie Young became the writer for Deadpool. In June 2019, Marvel Comics released a book called The Marvel Art Of Skottie Young.
In August 2021, Young started a newsletter on Substack. There, he announced that I Hate Fairyland would be coming back. Future issues of the series will be written by Young. Brett Parson will draw them. Other side stories will be released first on Young's Substack. Later, they will be published more widely.
Skottie Young's Personal Life
Skottie Young lives in Prairie Village, Kansas. He lives there with his wife, Casey McCauley. They have two children.
