Skwentna is a small community in Alaska, United States. It is called a census-designated place (CDP) because it's a special area used for counting people by the government. Skwentna is located on the famous Iditarod Trail, which is known for its dog sled race.

This community is about 61 miles northwest of Wasilla, right next to the Skwentna River. It's also part of the larger Anchorage, Alaska area. In 2020, only 62 people lived in Skwentna. This was more than the 37 people who lived there in 2010. Skwentna has its own airport, called Skwentna Airport, which helps people get in and out of the area.

Skwentna has a subarctic climate, which means it has very long, cold, and snowy winters. The summers are short and warm. Even in summer, August is usually cooler than June.

The coldest temperatures in Skwentna can drop to between -40 and -30 degrees Fahrenheit (-40 to -34 degrees Celsius). In summer, temperatures can reach 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21 degrees Celsius) on many days. They can even reach 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27 degrees Celsius) a few times.

The wettest time of year is from August to October. Snow usually falls from October to April, and sometimes even in May or September. Skwentna gets a lot of snow, about 119 inches (3.02 m) each year.

Skwentna was first counted in the U.S. Census in 1950. Back then, it was just a village. It wasn't counted again until 1990, when it became a census-designated place (CDP).

In the year 2000, there were 111 people living in Skwentna. These people lived in 50 different homes, and 29 of those were families. Most of the people (about 93%) were White. A smaller group (about 6%) were Native American.
