Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch is an area in Scotland that elects one person to the Scottish Parliament. This person is called a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP). The area is part of the Highland council area.
When people vote in Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch, they use a system called "first past the post." This means the candidate with the most votes wins. This area is also part of a larger "electoral region" called the Highlands and Islands. This region helps make sure that different groups of people are fairly represented in the Parliament.
This voting area was created for the 2011 Scottish Parliament election. It took over parts of two older voting areas: Ross, Skye & Inverness West and Inverness East, Nairn & Lochaber. The parts that were left over became a new area called Inverness and Nairn.
Since the 2016 Scottish Parliament election, Kate Forbes from the Scottish National Party has been the MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch.

Understanding the Electoral Region
The Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch area is part of the Highlands and Islands electoral region. This region is quite large! It includes many other voting areas. These are Argyll and Bute, Caithness, Sutherland and Ross, Inverness and Nairn, Moray, Na h-Eileanan an Iar, Orkney, and Shetland.
The Highlands and Islands region covers most of the Argyll and Bute council area. It also includes all of the Highland council area, most of the Moray council area, and all of the Orkney Islands, Shetland Islands, and Na h-Eileanan Siar council areas.

The Highland (council area) has three main voting areas that send MSPs to the Scottish Parliament. These are Caithness, Sutherland and Ross, Inverness and Nairn, and Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch.
