Slammiversary is a big yearly event in professional wrestling. It is a special show that people can watch on pay-per-view (PPV). This means you pay a fee to watch it live. The event is put on by an American wrestling company called Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA).
Slammiversary is one of TNA's four biggest events each year. The others are Hard To Kill, Rebellion, and Bound for Glory. Slammiversary is extra special because it celebrates the anniversary of TNA's very first wrestling show. That first show happened on June 19, 2002.
Since 2017, the Slammiversary event usually took place in July. However, the 2022 event was held on June 19. This date was exactly twenty years after TNA's first show.
What is Slammiversary?
Slammiversary is a major event where top wrestlers compete. It often features exciting matches and big championship fights. The show celebrates the history and growth of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.
The King of the Mountain Match
For many years, a special match called the King of the Mountain match was a big part of Slammiversary. This match was unique and exciting. It was a five-man "reverse ladder match".
In a regular ladder match, wrestlers climb a ladder to grab a championship belt hanging above the ring. But in a King of the Mountain match, it was different. Wrestlers had to first pin or make an opponent give up. After that, they could take the championship belt, which was hanging on a hook, and climb a ladder to hang it up. The first person to hang the belt won the match.
This match was first seen on June 2, 2004. It was a main feature at all Slammiversary events until 2010. The King of the Mountain match returned in 2015. This time, it was used to crown the first-ever TNA King of the Mountain Championship winner.
