Early Life and Name
Lars Bos was born in Deventer, Netherlands. He grew up in the nearby town of Gorssel. When he was born, he had a condition called a cleft lip. Sometimes, other kids were not kind to him because of it.
Lars studied music at the Herman Brood Academie. He chose the stage name "Snelle," which means "fast" in Dutch.
Music Career Highlights
Snelle's music career really took off in 2019. His songs "Scars" and "Plankgas" became very popular. They were certified Platinum, meaning they sold a lot of copies.
In September 2019, his song "Reünie" reached number one on the Dutch Top 40 chart. This song and its music video shared his story about being bullied when he was younger. It showed how he became stronger because of it.
In January 2020, Snelle had another number one hit with "Smoorverliefd." He worked with a Dutch insurance company to create this song. It helped teach young people about the dangers of texting while riding their bikes.
His third number one song came in March 2020. It was "17 miljoen mensen," a new version of an older Dutch song. Snelle recorded it with singer Davina Michelle. They performed it live in an empty Rotterdam Ahoy arena. This happened at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Netherlands. The song was only one minute and 47 seconds long. This made it the shortest number one hit in Dutch history.
In July 2020, Snelle joined the TV show The Voice Kids as a judge. In August, he worked with the duo Suzan & Freek on a song called "De overkant." This song was a tribute to their home province of Gelderland.
In 2021, Snelle had his biggest hit yet with "Blijven slapen." This song was a collaboration with singer Maan. It stayed at number one for ten weeks! A documentary about his life, called Snelle: Zonder jas naar buiten, was released on Netflix in April 2021.
In 2022, Snelle started presenting a show called I Want Your Song. He also continued to be a judge on music shows. These included Ministars and De Bondgenoot.
Personal Life
After becoming famous, Snelle moved to Amsterdam. However, many fans would visit his home, which made it hard for him to have privacy. Because of this, he moved back to his hometown of Deventer by early 2021.
In December 2024, Snelle asked his girlfriend, Sterre Kunzler, to marry him. He proposed to her in New York City's famous Central Park.
