Sofia "Sofi" Mechetner (Hebrew: סופיה "סופי" מצ'טנר; born 4 December 2000) is an Israeli model. She became famous at a young age. In July 2015, when she was just 14, she was chosen to be the main model for Dior.
For her first modeling job, Sofia opened the Dior Haute Couture Fall Winter 2015/2016 Show. This was at Paris Fashion Week. Later that year, she also opened the Dior Spring Summer 2016 Show. Her first contract with Dior was worth about US$250,000 per year. This contract was renewed for a second year in 2016.
In 2017, she signed another contract to work for Chanel. She also walked for many other famous fashion brands. These included Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, Alexander McQueen, and H&M. She also took part in a global ad campaign for Ralph Lauren. In 2018, she became the main model for Topshop's campaigns. In 2019, she led the Tommy Hilfiger campaign.

Early Life and Background
Sofia Mechetner grew up in Holon, Israel. Her parents moved to Israel from Russia. When she was 10, her father left the family.
In April 2019, Sofia joined the Israel Defense Forces as a soldier. This is part of the required military service in Israel. She chose to stay in Israel instead of moving to New York City for more modeling jobs. She finished her service in April 2021.
How Sofia Became a Model
Sofia became a top model for Dior after being discovered in Paris. Raf Simons, Dior's main designer, spotted her. Her first contract with Dior was worth over $265,000. She shared this money with her family. She said, "I just put it on the table and they can use it."
Sofia plans to use her earnings to help her mother. She sees her mother as her hero. Sofia explained, "She works so hard for the family. She always supports and takes care of me, my little sister, and my little brother. Together we all try to help so that it will be easier for our mom."
Balancing School and Work
As part of her contract, Sofia travels to Paris four times a year for modeling. But she still goes to school in Israel. She believes it is very important to continue her education.
When she works as a model, an adult chaperone from Israel is always with her. This person stays with her until she turns 18. Her chaperone, Rotem Gur, makes sure Sofia is accompanied at all times while working.
Major Achievements in Modeling
Sofia is represented by VIVA Model Management in Paris. She is also with Roberto Model Management in Tel-Aviv. In 2015, her story was shown in a TV documentary in Israel. It called her discovery a "Cinderella story."
In February 2016, she signed a second contract worth a lot of money. This was to lead Dior's 'Ready-to-wear' and international sunglasses campaigns. This made her one of Israel's highest-paid models.
In 2017, Sofia signed another contract with the famous Paris fashion brand Chanel.
Life Outside of Modeling
Despite her successful career, Sofia still helps her mother clean houses when she is in Israel. When she is not modeling, her life is much like it was before she became famous.
She said, "I get up in the morning, help to organize my little sister Nicole (11) and my little brother Max (9). My mother goes to work as a cleaner and I go to school." She added, "When I get home from school, I'm sitting under a blanket and watching TV, talking with friends, go to the garden or to someone's house, return and do my homework and go to bed."
She feels normal at school, like everyone else. The money from modeling has allowed her family to rent a bigger apartment in Holon, Israel.

In 2017, Sofia walked for many top designers. These included Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, and Alexander McQueen. She also took part in a global ad campaign for Ralph Lauren.
In 2018, she was on the cover of Elle France magazine. She also appeared on the covers of Telva and Russh magazines. She modeled for Vogue Espana. Sofia walked for Lacoste. She also led the international campaign for Marc Jacobs Daisy perfumes with Kaia Gerber.
She led the Fall/Winter campaign for Elie Saab. She also signed up for international campaigns for H&M and Ralph Lauren Polo. In the H&M campaign, her picture was shown on a huge screen in New York's Times Square. In 2018, she became the main model for Topshop's campaigns. In 2019, she led the Tommy Jeans campaign.
Personal Life
Sofia Mechetner feels very connected to Israel. She has said that she feels Jewish and belongs to the country. She lights Shabbat candles, which is a Jewish tradition.
