Early Career and Xerox

Early in his career, Mr. Linowitz worked as a lawyer. He helped a company called Xerox get patents for their new office copier inventions. A patent is like a special permission from the government. It protects an invention and stops others from copying it.

Later, he even became the chairman of Xerox Corporation for a few years. This means he was in charge of the whole company.

The Panama Canal Agreement

One of Sol Linowitz's most important jobs was helping with the Panama Canal. The Panama Canal is a famous waterway that connects the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. It makes it much easier for ships to travel around the world.
