Sophie Green (born 1992) is an English artist. She is famous for her super-realistic paintings of animals. These animals are often endangered or vulnerable. Sophie creates her art to help people learn about important environmental issues. She also wants to support animal conservation efforts. Sophie Green lives and works in East Sussex, South East England.

Early Life and Inspiration

Sophie Green was born on February 28, 1992. She grew up in Surrey, South East England. When she was a child, Sophie had a condition called selective mutism. This meant it was hard for her to speak in some situations. Sophie shared on BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour that she found comfort in nature and art during this time.

When Sophie was 19, her mother passed away. Later, Sophie studied at the University of Brighton in England. She earned a top degree in Bachelor of Arts. After working in film and television for several years, Sophie decided to focus fully on fine art in 2018.

Art for Conservation

Sophie Green paints incredibly detailed pictures of wildlife. She uses her art to raise awareness and money for animal conservation. She is an ambassador for important groups like The Jane Goodall Institute UK and Helping Rhinos.

Notable Artworks and Exhibitions

Sophie's artwork was shown at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow. In 2022, her painting of an African elephant called 'Broken' was sold. It went for $24,000 at an auction in New York City. Sophie donated all the money to projects that help communities and wildlife in Africa.

Another painting by Sophie, 'Wounda' the chimpanzee, also sold for $24,000. This auction took place at the Royal Geographical Society in London. The money from this sale was given to the Jane Goodall Institute.

In 2021, Sophie went on an amazing trip to the Arctic. This journey inspired her 2022 solo art show called 'Impermanence'. This collection featured paintings of some of the world's most vulnerable animals. The exhibition was held at the Oxo Tower in London.

Beyond Painting

Sophie Green also co-hosts a podcast called 'Unquestionable'. This podcast, which started in 2023, focuses on self-development. It has featured interesting guests like David Baddiel, Max Joseph, Rosie Jones, and Dom Joly.
