South Bank is a cool area in the city of York, which is in North Yorkshire, England. You can find it just south of the River Ouse. This area used to be famous for the Terry's Chocolate Works factory, where yummy chocolates were made!

The Famous Chocolate Factory

The Terry's Chocolate Works factory first opened its doors in 1926. Over many years, it made popular treats like Terry's Chocolate Orange, Terry's All Gold, and York Fruits. In 1993, a company called Kraft Foods bought Terry's. Later, in 2004, they decided to move the chocolate making to other factories. These factories were in countries like Belgium, Sweden, Poland, and Slovakia. The factory in South Bank closed on September 30, 2005.
