South Charleston is a small village located in Clark County, Ohio, United States. In 2020, about 1,706 people lived there. It is part of the larger Springfield, Ohio area.
Even though its name sounds like it's connected to a city called Charleston, there isn't a city named Charleston in Ohio.

History of South Charleston
South Charleston was first planned out in 1815. The very first part of the village, called Charleston, was officially recorded in London, Ohio, in early 1816. The first election for the village happened in September 1818.
The village was originally named after Charles Paist, who was its first merchant. However, the name was later changed. This happened because there were often problems with mail delivery.
