South Lancaster is a small community in Massachusetts. It is also known as a census-designated place (CDP). South Lancaster is located within the town of Lancaster. It is also very close to the town of Clinton. This area is part of Worcester County in the United States. In 2010, about 1,894 people lived here. By 2020, the population was 1,838.

Religion and Education in South Lancaster
A big part of life in South Lancaster used to be centered around Atlantic Union College. This was a college run by the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) faith. It was started in 1882. The college closed in 2018. This happened after it lost its official accreditation in 2011 and could not recover.
The village is still home to important Seventh-day Adventist offices. These include the Southern New England Conference and the Atlantic Union Conference. The SDA church also owns and runs the South Lancaster Academy, a school in the area.
The college's music department was once located in the Nathaniel Thayer Estate. This historic building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. It was known as the Thayer Performing Arts Center until it closed in 2020.
