South Maitland is a suburb located close to the city center of Maitland. It is part of the City of Maitland in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia.

This area is just south of the New England Highway and the Main North railway line. These separate South Maitland from Maitland's main business area. You can easily cross the highway using special bridges. These bridges let you get to both the High Street and Maitland train stations. In 2016, about 471 people lived in South Maitland.
