Spelling Jungle is a fun educational adventure game. It was made by Bright Star Technology and released by Sierra in 1993. You can play it on Windows and Macintosh computers. This game helps kids improve their reading, spelling, and thinking skills.

In Spelling Jungle, your main goal is to paddle a raft up a river. You need to reach the source of a flood and stop it. Along the way, you'll stop often to solve puzzles. These puzzles involve walking on letter tiles to spell words. You also need to avoid enemies like lions and alligators. The game has 101 levels, and they get harder as you go!

This game is also known by other names. Sometimes it's called "Yobi's Magic Spelling Tricks" or "Yobi's Basic Spelling Tricks". In the game's manual, it's even called "Spelling Demons". A sequel to the game, called "Spelling Blizzard", came out in 1994.

Spelling Jungle is an adventure game where you paddle a raft up a river. Your mission is to reach the end and stop the river from flooding. The game has two main parts: a puzzle map and a spelling test.

Solving Puzzles on the Map

On the puzzle map, you need to spell a specific word. You do this by walking over letter tiles in the correct order. The game shows you the area from above. It also tells you the word you need to spell. There's even a hint at the bottom of the screen to help you remember the spelling.

Early levels are simple. You just collect letters in the right order. But as you play more, the puzzles become trickier. In later levels, you'll need to avoid enemies like rhinoceroses and tigers. You'll also face dangers like hot coals and deep pits. Sometimes, you can use tools like boulders or vehicles to help you.

Once you collect all the letters in the correct order, most dangers disappear. Then, you must find your way back to your raft. This lets you move on to the next part of the game.

Passing the Spelling Test

After the puzzle map, you'll take a spelling test. You'll be asked to spell words, starting with the one from the puzzle map. If you spell a word correctly, your raft moves forward a bit. If you spell enough words correctly, you'll advance to the next puzzle map!
