Where Does Spring Creek Start and Go?
Every stream has a beginning, called its "headwaters." Spring Creek's headwaters are in Phelps County, Missouri. They start just northeast of the city of Rolla. You can find its very beginning near the Missouri Route V exit on I-44. The exact spot is around 37°59′03″N 91°43′44″W / 37.98417°N 91.72889°W.
From there, Spring Creek flows generally towards the north-northwest. It passes underneath Missouri Route 63, about three miles north of Rolla. As it continues its journey, the stream enters Maries County. This happens near the middle of the county.
The creek then crosses under Missouri Route A. It flows alongside and just south of Route 63 again for a while. Finally, Spring Creek reaches its "confluence" with the Gasconade River. A confluence is the place where two rivers or streams meet and join together. This meeting point is about four miles southeast of the town of Vienna, at 38°08′38″N 91°52′54″W / 38.14389°N 91.88167°W.
