Spruce Community History
Another community in the township is Spruce. It's found in the eastern part of Caledonia Township. Spruce started to grow when a sawmill was built there.
The first post office in Spruce opened on May 5, 1898. Don Hecox, who built the sawmill, also became the first postmaster. The Spruce post office is still open today and serves the eastern part of Caledonia Township.
