St James' Church, Codnor is a Church of England church located in Codnor, Derbyshire, England. It serves the local community as a parish church.

History of the Church

St James' Church was built in 1844. The church was designed by an architect named Robert Barker. It was officially opened and blessed on October 10, 1844.

Later, between 1888 and 1890, a part of the church called the chancel was added. This addition was designed by J Holden.

The Church Organ

The church originally had a pipe organ. In 1876, this organ was made bigger and better by Charles Lloyd, an organ builder from Nottingham.

However, in 1906, this original organ was moved to St Andrew's Church, Langar. A new pipe organ was then installed at St James' Church in 1906. This new organ was made by a company called Abbott and Smith. You can find more details about this organ on the National Pipe Organ Register.
