St Morris is a suburb located in Adelaide, Australia. It is part of the City of Norwood Payneham St Peters, which is a local government area.
History of St Morris
Early Post Office History
The area once had a Post Office called North Norwood. It first opened its doors around the year 1886. Later, its name was changed to Trinity Gardens in 1950. Finally, in 1963, it was renamed St Morris. This Post Office served the community until it closed in 1988.
The Windsor Theatre
A special building for showing movies, called the Windsor Theatre, opened in 1931. It was located at 407 Magill Road. The Cunnew brothers owned this movie theater. At one point, it was also known as the De Franco. The Windsor Theatre closed in 1957. By then, a company called Ozone Theatres Ltd. had taken over its lease. Today, in 2022, the building is a paint shop called Inspirations.
