Where is Stanage Located?
Stanage is found at the very top of the Torilla Peninsula. This peninsula sticks out north into the Coral Sea. To the west is Broad Sound, and to the east is Shoalwater Bay.
The town itself is on the northernmost tip of this peninsula. It has three main areas where houses are built. One area faces Thirsty Sound, and two others are on the northeast side. Many people from Rockhampton visit Stanage on weekends. They come for the great fishing and crabbing.
Part of the area is also home to the Shoalwater Conservation Park. This park is made up of six separate pieces of land along the Shoalwater Bay side of the peninsula. A conservation park is a special area set aside to protect nature. Most of the land in Stanage, outside the town and park, is used for grazing animals.
