Stanley Herbert Johnson Jr. (born May 29, 1996) is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for Anadolu Efes in Turkey's top league, the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL), and the EuroLeague. Before becoming a pro, he played one year of college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats. The Detroit Pistons picked him eighth overall in the 2015 NBA draft.

High School Basketball Journey
Stanley Johnson grew up in Fullerton, California. He was considered one of the best high school basketball players in 2014. He won four CIF State championships while playing for Mater Dei High School.
He was chosen to play in several important games for top high school players. These included the 2014 McDonald's All-American Boys Game, the 2014 Jordan Brand Classic, and the 2014 Nike Hoop Summit. He was also named to the 2014 USA Today first team All-USA Boys Basketball Team. Stanley scored 2,285 points during his high school career, which is the third-highest score in Mater Dei's history.
College Career at Arizona
In the 2014–15 season, Stanley played as a freshman for the Arizona Wildcats. He quickly became a star, earning a spot on the first-team All-Pac-12. He was also named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.
Stanley started in 37 out of 38 games for the Wildcats. On average, he scored 13.8 points, grabbed 6.5 rebounds, and made 1.5 steals per game. After just one successful year in college, Stanley decided to enter the NBA draft on April 23, 2015. This meant he gave up his remaining three years of college eligibility to become a professional player.
Professional Basketball Career
Starting with the Detroit Pistons (2015–2019)
The Detroit Pistons chose Stanley Johnson as the eighth overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft on June 25, 2015. In his very first game with the Pistons on October 27, he scored seven points. On November 9, he scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a game against the Golden State Warriors. Later, on February 4, he scored a season-high 22 points in a win against the New York Knicks.
During his time with the Pistons, Stanley continued to improve. On January 30, 2018, he scored a career-high 26 points in a game where the Pistons beat the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Moving to the New Orleans Pelicans (2019)
On February 7, 2019, Stanley was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans. This trade involved three teams: the Pistons, the Pelicans, and the Milwaukee Bucks. He played for the Pelicans for a short time.
Playing for the Toronto Raptors (2019–2021)
Stanley signed with the Toronto Raptors on July 11, 2019. He made a memorable shot on August 12, 2020, scoring his first-ever game-winning shot with only 4.9 seconds left against the Philadelphia 76ers. Two days later, he scored a season-high 23 points coming off the bench against the Denver Nuggets.
The Raptors made it to the playoffs that year, which was the first time Stanley advanced to the second round in his career. They played a tough series against the Boston Celtics, going to seven games before losing. On May 13, 2021, Stanley scored a career-high 35 points in a game against the Chicago Bulls.
Short Stays with Other Teams (2021–2024)
After his time with the Raptors, Stanley played for a few other teams. In 2021, he signed with the South Bay Lakers, where he played six games. Later that year, on December 24, 2021, he signed a contract with his hometown team, the Los Angeles Lakers. He played for the Lakers until August 2022, when he was traded to the Utah Jazz.
He then played for the Sioux Falls Skyforce in December 2022, before signing with the San Antonio Spurs later that month. He was waived by the Spurs in February 2023 and returned to the Skyforce. In December 2023, he joined the Stockton Kings.
Joining Anadolu Efes (2024–Present)
On July 4, 2024, Stanley Johnson signed with Anadolu Efes. This team plays in the Turkish Basketbol Süper Ligi and the EuroLeague, which are major basketball leagues in Europe.

He was the captain of the 2014 team and was even named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of that tournament.
