Club Career Highlights
Starting in Serbia
Stefan Savić began his professional football career with BSK Borča. This was during the 2008–09 season. In early 2010, he had a tryout with Arsenal in England. Savić mentioned that he had agreed to join Arsenal later that summer. However, the transfer did not happen.
On August 29, 2010, Savić signed a four-year contract with Partizan. He was given the number 15 jersey. He played four games in the 2010–11 UEFA Champions League group stage. He also helped Partizan win both the league and the cup that season.
Time at Manchester City
On July 6, 2011, Savić joined Manchester City. He signed a four-year contract in a deal worth about £6 million. He played his first game for City on August 15 against Swansea City. He came on as a substitute in that match.
On October 1, he scored his first goal for the club. It was in a 4–0 win against Blackburn Rovers. He scored with a header from a corner kick. During a time when another defender, Vincent Kompany, was banned, Savić played more often. He sometimes showed good skills but also made some mistakes. He played 12 league games that season. Manchester City won the 2011–12 Premier League title on the very last day.
Playing for Fiorentina
On August 31, 2012, Savić moved to Fiorentina, an Italian club. He was part of a deal that sent another player, Matija Nastasić, to Manchester City. Savić was given the number 15 shirt. His first game for Fiorentina was on October 7, a 1–0 win against Bologna.
In December, he scored his first two goals for the club. This happened in a 2–2 draw against Sampdoria. He played 26 league games that season. Fiorentina finished fourth in the 2012–13 Serie A. This meant they qualified for the UEFA Europa League for the next season.
Savić continued to be a key defender for Fiorentina. In the 2013–14 season, he played 31 league games. Fiorentina again finished in fourth place. He also played in the Europa League, where his team reached the last 16. Fiorentina also made it to the Coppa Italia final but lost to Napoli.
