Early Life and Education
Stefanie Joosten was born in Roermond, a city in the southeastern Netherlands. She went to Bisschoppelijk College Broekhin in Roermond, where she studied both Dutch and English.
Growing up, Stefanie was very interested in Japanese culture, especially things like anime and video games. Because of this, she decided to study the Japanese language and culture at Leiden University. In 2009, she spent a year in Kyoto, Japan, as part of a student exchange program. After this amazing experience, she decided she wanted to move to Tokyo once she finished her degree back home in the Netherlands.
Career Highlights
While living in Japan, Stefanie met several modeling agencies. These agencies were specifically looking for models from Western countries. She began taking on modeling jobs in 2011.
After working on many small acting roles and commercials, she received a mysterious call. An agent was looking for models to help with a secret video game project. Stefanie had loved Japanese games since she was a child. She became curious when she recognized one of the people during the auditions. Later, she found out it was the famous video game creator Hideo Kojima. This gave her a big clue about what she was auditioning for!
Becoming Quiet in Metal Gear Solid V
Stefanie was chosen to be both the visual model and the voice for Quiet. Quiet is a very important female character in the Metal Gear game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Stefanie also sang the song "Quiet's Theme" for the game's official music album.
Other Game and Music Projects
In early 2019, Stefanie joined the game Spacelords as a character named Sööma. In 2021, she became part of the game Wanted: Dead. She also sang on the game's music album and helped direct the game's movie-like scenes.
Stefanie released her first music album, called Singing to the Sky, in 2022. A famous music producer named Giorgio Moroder helped create the album. It included songs written by Moroder and other talented people. This was a special event because it was the first time in 40 years that Moroder worked with a new artist. Other musicians like Matt Sorum and Kenny Wayne Shepherd also appeared on the album.
In 2023, Stefanie Joosten announced she was working on a new album called Intermission. The first song from this album, "Tryouts for the Human Race", is a collaboration with Giorgio Moroder. It's a cover of a song he co-wrote back in 1979.
