Stephanie Ann Davies (born 21 October 1987) is a former international cricketer from England. She played in four One Day International (ODI) matches for the England team. She also played for the Somerset county team. Steph was a right-arm medium-fast bowler and a right-handed batter.
Steph started playing for Somerset when she was just 13 years old. She quickly moved up to play for England's youth teams. At 15, she toured Australia with the England Under-19s. She even captained the England Under-21s to victory in 2006. Steph made her first international ODI appearance in 2008. This was during a tour of Australia and New Zealand. Later, in 2009, she became the captain of the Somerset team.

Starting Cricket Young
Steph Davies began playing Kwik cricket after watching matches with her dad. She then joined local boys' teams. When she was 13, she tried out for a women's team. She was chosen to play with older women cricketers. Steph joined the Somerset county team that same year. Her first match was against Lancashire.
She played four matches for Somerset in 2001. In her third game, she got her first wicket. This is when a bowler gets a batter out. She bowled very well, giving away only five runs.
Playing for England's Youth Teams
Steph quickly joined the England development squad in 2002. She also played a match for Wales, her home country. In 2002, she played in the Super Fours competition. This is where England's top players are put into four teams.
In 2002–03, Steph was picked for the England Under-19s. They toured Australia to play in a championship. She took two wickets and scored eleven runs there. She also played one match against the Australia Under-19s.
In 2003, Steph played in the Super Fours again. She also played five matches for Somerset. She started batting higher in the team. In one match, she scored 70 runs against Hampshire. This was her highest score in List A cricket. She also took three wickets in a warm-up match for the England development squad.
In 2004, Twenty20 cricket was new to English women's games. Steph played her first Twenty20 match for the Braves team. She took four wickets, helping her team win. Later that year, she went to Ireland with the England Under-21 team. They played in the 2004 Women's European Under-21 Championships. England won all three of their matches.
In 2005, Steph scored over 50 runs twice for Somerset. She scored 65 against Nottinghamshire and 51 against Berkshire. She also played for England A against the main England team. Later, she joined the England Development Squad for the 2005 Women's European Cricket Championship in Wales. She was the best bowler in the tournament. She took nine wickets in four matches. In one game, she took four wickets against Scotland.
In 2006, Steph played for the Emeralds in the Super Fours. She also played well for England A against the Indian team. She took two wickets and scored 27 runs. Steph was named captain of the England Under-21 team. She led her team to win the 2006 Women's European Under-21 Championships. She bowled three wickets and scored 31 runs against Ireland.
Making Her International Debut
In June 2007, Steph played her first match for the senior England team. This was a non-international game. In November 2007, she joined the England squad for a tour of Australia and New Zealand. This was her first time with the main England team.
She made her official ODI debut in Australia. This was the fifth and final match of the series. Steph took four wickets in her first international innings. She got three batters out by leg before wicket. She also got one batter stumped. Even with her great performance, Australia won the match.
After a warm-up match in New Zealand, Steph played in the second ODI. She bowled six overs but didn't get any wickets. England won easily. In the next match, she took one wicket. England won again. She took one more wicket in the fourth ODI. However, that match was stopped because of rain.
In 2008, Steph started studying at the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff. She had to balance cricket with her studies. She played for England's academy team and development squad. She also played for an MCC Young Cricketer team against India. For Somerset, she played five matches. She helped her county win against Warwickshire.
Leading the Somerset Team
Steph Davies became the captain of the Somerset team in 2009. Her first match as captain was on 10 May 2009 against Surrey. She scored 50 runs in that game. She also had a big partnership with another player, Sophie Le Marchand. They helped their team win by 21 runs.
Steph was Somerset's top run-scorer that season, with 217 runs. She was also their most economical bowler. She took seven wickets. She continued to play for England Academy teams. She also played two Twenty20 matches against Pakistan.
Steph continued as captain in 2010. In Somerset's first match of the season, she took four wickets. This was her fourth time taking four wickets in a List A match. She played her last match for Somerset in 2011 against Cheshire.
