Stephen M. Twitty (born 1963) is a retired lieutenant general in the United States Army. A lieutenant general is a very high rank in the military. He led the First United States Army and later became a deputy commander for United States European Command.
Before that, he was in charge of Fort Bliss and the 1st Armored Division. General Twitty received the Silver Star medal for his bravery during the Iraq War. He is known for his connection with journalist David Bloom, who reported on his team during the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
General Twitty served in five combat missions. These included the Gulf War, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Kuwait. He led different groups of soldiers, from small companies to larger brigades. He went to South Carolina State University and is part of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity. A highway in his hometown is named after him.

Stephen Twitty was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He grew up in Chesnee, South Carolina. In 1985, he graduated with honors from South Carolina State University.
He also earned two master's degrees. One was in Public Administration from Central Michigan University. The other was in National Security Strategy from the National Defense University.

Stephen Twitty is married to Karen Wilson Twitty. They have two daughters.
