Steve Hosey's Early Life and Baseball Career

Steve Hosey went to Fremont High School in Oakland. After high school, he attended Fresno State University in California. He was a tall and strong athlete.

Baseball teams noticed his talent early on. The Cleveland Indians first picked him in the 1986 baseball draft. A draft is when professional teams choose young players to join their organization. Steve decided not to sign with the Indians at that time.

Later, in the 1989 draft, the San Francisco Giants chose him in the first round. This time, he signed with the team. He played for the Giants in 24 games during the 1992 and 1993 seasons.

Interestingly, Steve Hosey is also the half-brother of Paul Pierce. Paul Pierce is a very famous former professional basketball player in the NBA.

After his baseball career, Steve Hosey became involved in politics. He ran for a position on the Fresno County Board of Supervisors. This Board helps manage the local government in Fresno County.
