Steve Passmore is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He was born on January 29, 1973. Steve was chosen by the Quebec Nordiques in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. He played 93 games in the NHL between 1998 and 2004. During his NHL career, he played for the Edmonton Oilers, Chicago Blackhawks, and Los Angeles Kings. He also spent time playing in minor leagues and in Europe. His hockey career lasted from 1994 to 2007.
Steve Passmore's Hockey Journey
Steve Passmore played for the Victoria Cougars in the Western Hockey League (WHL). During the 1991–92 season, he set some impressive records. He played the most games as a goaltender (71) and had the most saves (2,562) in a single WHL season.
After his junior hockey career with the Kamloops Blazers, Steve was traded to the Edmonton Oilers in 1994. In his second season with the Oilers, he faced a big challenge. He was diagnosed with a serious illness that affected his blood. This illness could have ended his hockey career.
After getting better, Steve played most of his career in the AHL. He also served as a backup goaltender in the NHL. In 2000, the Chicago Blackhawks nominated him for the Masterton Trophy. This award is given to a player who shows great sportsmanship and dedication. Steve was recognized for his amazing comeback after his illness.
During the 2004–05 NHL lockout, Steve played for Adler Mannheim in Germany. Later, in 2005, he joined Jokerit in Finland. He also had a short time with the Graz 99ers in Austria. Steve finished his professional career with HCJ Milano Vipers in Italy in 2007.
Today, Steve Passmore lives in Kamloops, British Columbia.
