Steve Reevis (born August 14, 1962 – died December 7, 2017) was a Native American actor. He was a member of the Blackfeet Tribe. Steve was well-known for his roles in popular movies like Fargo, Last of the Dogmen, and Dances with Wolves.

About Steve's Early Life

Steve Reevis was born on August 14, 1962, in Browning, Montana. His parents were Lloyd "Curley" and Lila Reevis. He was the fourth of six children, with two brothers and three sisters. Steve grew up on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in northwestern Montana.

After high school, Steve went to Flandreau Indian School in Flandreau, South Dakota. He then attended Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence, Kansas. There, he earned a two-year college degree called an associate of arts degree.

Steve's Acting Career

Steve Reevis started his movie career as a stunt rider in the 1987 film War Party. His brother, Tim Reevis, also worked on this movie. Steve's first acting role was in 1988 in the Universal Studios movie Twins. In this film, he acted alongside famous stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito.

After Twins, Steve had a role as a Sioux Warrior in the 1990 film Dances with Wolves, which starred Kevin Costner. He then played Chato, an Apache scout, in Geronimo: An American Legend in 1993. In 1995, Steve played Yellow Wolf in Last of the Dogmen.

Steve also appeared in the well-known 1996 movie Fargo. He was also in the TV movie Crazy Horse. For his work in both these films, Steve received awards from First Americans in the Arts (FAITA) in 1996. He was honored again by FAITA in 2004 for his role in the TV show Line of Fire.

Later, Steve acted in the 2003 film The Missing. He was also in the 2005 remake of The Longest Yard. Steve appeared in the 2005 miniseries Into the West on TNT. He also had a role in the Fox drama series Bones.

Steve's Family Life and Passing

In 1991, Steve married Macile. She is an artist and clothing designer and a member of the Choctaw tribe. They lived in Morongo Valley, California and near Missoula, Montana. Steve and Macile had three children together.

Steve Reevis passed away on December 7, 2017, in Missoula. He was 55 years old. At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, their children, and three grandchildren.
