High School Basketball Star
Steven Edwards went to Miami Senior High School. He was a very successful basketball player there. He was even named Florida Mr. Basketball twice! This award goes to the best high school player in Florida.
High School Achievements
- In his junior year, Steven scored about 23.5 points per game. He also grabbed 7 rebounds and made 6 assists per game.
- In his senior year, he averaged 18.1 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.
- Steven helped his team win two state championships in 1990 and 1991. They were also runners-up in the 1992 tournament.
- Because of his great playing, he was chosen for the Parade All-America Third Team. He was also named Florida Gatorade Player of the Year in 1992.

- For his senior year, he was named a team co-captain. He led the Hurricanes in scoring again, averaging 12.9 points per game.
- He finished his college career playing 110 games and starting 91 of them. He scored a total of 1,393 points.
- At the end of his college career, he was the Hurricanes' all-time leader in 3-pointers made. He is now ranked second in that record.

Professional Basketball Career
After college, Steven Edwards was able to join the 1996 NBA draft. However, no NBA team chose him. So, he started his professional career playing basketball in Argentina.
Playing in Argentina and Europe
- He signed with a team called Atenas de Córdoba in Argentina.
- During his first two years there, he helped Atenas win two national championships.
- He also won the 1998 Liga Sudamericana de Básquetbol with them in 1998.
- After playing one season with Boca Juniors, he joined the Utah Jazz for their summer team in 2000. But he was released from the team in July 2000.
- Steven then moved to Europe to play. He joined the St. Petersburg Lions in Russia.
- With the Russian team, he played 5 Euroleague games. He averaged 13.4 points and 3.8 rebounds in those games.
- After that season, he went back to Atenas in Argentina for another year.
- He also played part of the 2001–02 season with Universidad Complutense.
- In April 2002, he signed with the Cantabria Lobos team. He played 4 games in Spain's top basketball league. He averaged 5.5 points and 1 rebound.
- After playing for a year in Uruguay, he spent five seasons with the UB La Palma team.
Steven Edwards' Family
Steven Edwards was born in Miami, Florida. His parents are John Benny and Laura Mae Edwards. Steven has two brothers, Doug and Allen. Both of his brothers also played basketball. Doug played in the NBA for the Atlanta Hawks and the Vancouver Grizzlies. Allen played college basketball for Kentucky and later became a coach.
