Stillington is a small village in England. It is located northwest of Stockton-on-Tees in the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees. For official purposes, it is part of County Durham.

How Stillington is Governed
Stillington is looked after by the Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council. A local councillor, Andrew Stephenson, represents Stillington and nearby villages. These villages include Redmarshall, Carlton, Elton, and Longnewton.
Stillington is also part of a larger area called Stockton North. This area chooses a Member of Parliament (MP) to represent them in the national government. The current MP for Stockton North is Alex Cunningham.
Stillington's Local History
For many years, Stillington was part of County Durham. Later, in 1974, it became part of a new area called the County of Cleveland. This changed again in 1996. Now, Stillington is still in the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees. But for traditional reasons, it is considered part of County Durham.
Stillington used to be its own small local area, called a civil parish. On April 1, 1983, it joined with two other areas, Whitton and Mordon, to form a larger parish.
Stillington's Economy and Jobs
Stillington has a history of industry. In 1866, a company called Carlton Iron Works started here. An iron works is a place where iron is made. This company built many houses, and the village became known as "Carlton Iron Works."
The original iron furnace was taken down in 1932. However, the company still exists today under the name Metabrasive. Stillington is home to several other companies too. These include Darchem Engineering, Clarkes of Stillington, and Bodycote Heat Treatments. These businesses provide jobs for people in the village and surrounding areas.
Stillington Forest Park: A Nature Reserve
Near the church in Stillington, there is a special place called Stillington Forest Park. This area used to be a waste dump. But in 2004, it was cleaned up and turned into a Local Nature Reserve. This means it's a protected area for wildlife.
The park has two main ponds. One of them is a popular spot for fishing, as it has freshwater fish. There is also a wooded area with paths, which is a great place to see local wildlife. The park is mostly grassland with some patches of trees.
Wind Farm
In 2010, a plan was made to build four wind turbines near Stillington. These turbines would be up to 125 meters tall. The plan was approved in December 2011. Wind turbines help create clean energy from the wind.
Transport in Stillington
Trains and Railways
In 1833, the Clarence Railway opened and passed through Stillington. This railway was used by iron companies to move their products. It also carried passengers. A train station was built in Stillington in 1838. Sadly, it was taken down in 1965 after a fire. The Clarence Railway is still used today.
Bus Services
Stillington used to have a bus service that connected it to Stockton-on-Tees and Middlesbrough. This bus service stopped in 2019.
Now, the village has a new type of bus service called 'Tees Flex'. This service lets people book a bus using a smartphone app or by calling a number. It started in 2020 and is a trial program. It gives residents more choices for where they want to travel.
Education
Stillington has a primary school called William Cassidi Church of England Aided Primary School. As of 2011, about 204 students aged 3 to 11 attended the school. The school has been rated as "good" by Ofsted, which checks how schools are doing.
Religious Sites
The main church in Stillington is called St John the Divine. It was built in 1880.
