Stockdale is a small city in Wilson County, Texas, United States. In 2020, about 1,413 people lived there. It is part of the larger San Antonio area. The city was named after Fletcher S. Stockdale, who was a high-ranking official (lieutenant governor) in Texas when the town started in 1863. Many German and Polish immigrants settled in Stockdale in the late 1800s, which helped the town grow a lot.

History of Stockdale
Stockdale was first known by other names like High Prairie and Bunker's Store. It got its current name in 1863, honoring Fletcher Stockdale, who was the lieutenant governor of Texas at that time.
A big change happened in 1898 when the San Antonio and Mexican Gulf Railroad came to Stockdale. This made it easier for people and goods to travel to and from the town.
Stockdale officially became a city in 1919. A fun tradition, the annual Watermelon Jubilee, started in 1937. This festival celebrates watermelons and brings the community together.
Geography and Climate
Stockdale covers an area of about 1.7 square miles (4.37 square kilometers), and all of it is land. It is located about 25 miles (40 km) south of Seguin. It is also about 40 miles (64 km) southeast of downtown San Antonio.
