History of Strasburg
Strasburg was first known as Crawford's Fork. It was founded in the 1860s. The city later changed its name to Strasburg. This new name came from the city of Strasbourg. Strasbourg was in Germany at that time, but it is now part of France.
Geography of Strasburg
Strasburg is found on Missouri Route 58. It is about 5.5 miles east of Pleasant Hill. Another town, Kingsville, is about five miles east on the same road.
Two creeks flow near Strasburg. Big Creek is about one mile to the south. Its smaller stream, Crawford Creek, flows along the east side of the city. The city covers a total area of about 0.19 square miles (0.50 square kilometers). All of this area is land.

Strasburg's Junior City Council
Strasburg is special because it created the United States' first Junior City Council in 2006. This idea was started by City Council member Patricia Ford and supported by Mayor Gregory McClure. Even a state representative, Mike McGhee, helped the first Junior Council members.
The Junior City Council is made up of young people from the area. They are elected into their roles, just like adult council members. They learn about and work on local issues. This helps them understand how their city works.
