Stratford is a small village located in Marathon County, Wisconsin, in the United States. It is part of the larger Wausau area. In 2010, about 1,578 people lived there.

History of Stratford

Stratford was officially planned and mapped out in 1891. This happened when the railroad lines were extended to reach this area. The village got its name from Stratford-upon-Avon, a famous town in England.

Geography of Stratford

Stratford is located at 44°48′7″N 90°4′26″W / 44.80194°N 90.07389°W / 44.80194; -90.07389. This means it is in the northern part of the United States. The village covers a total area of about 5.35 square miles (13.83 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 5.31 square miles (13.74 square kilometers), is land. A small part, about 0.04 square miles (0.09 square kilometers), is water.

According to the census from 2010, there were 1,578 people living in Stratford. These people lived in 666 households, and 433 of these were families. The village had about 297 people per square mile (115 people per square kilometer). There were also 713 housing units, which are places where people can live.

Most of the people in Stratford were White (98.5%). A small number of people were from other groups, including African American, Native American, and Asian. About 1.6% of the population was Hispanic or Latino.
