Stroud Green is a lively area in north London, England. It's split between two parts of London: the London Borough of Haringey and the London Borough of Islington. Stroud Green Road helps mark the border between these two boroughs.
Stroud Green Road is the main street in the area. It's a busy place with lots of shops and restaurants. This road connects Crouch Hill to Finsbury Park station, which is a big transport hub in north London.

What's in a Name?
The name Stroud Green has a long history! Back in 1407, the area was simply called Strode. This old word meant "marshy ground covered with brushwood."
Later, in 1546, it was recorded as Stowde Grene. The word "grene" was added, which meant "village green." So, the name tells us a bit about what the land used to be like!

Stroud Green Road: The Heart of the Area
Stroud Green Road is the main street where people go to shop and eat. You'll find many different restaurants here, offering food from all over the world. There are also lots of unique, independent shops. You can also find two bigger supermarkets for your groceries.
The part of Stroud Green Road near Finsbury Park is getting a big makeover. This area is becoming even better for people to visit and enjoy.
Did you know that a famous music company, Topic Records, used to be on Stroud Green Road? Many folk music albums were recorded there!
Stroud Green Library
If you love books, you can visit the Stroud Green & Harringay Library. It's located in the eastern part of the neighbourhood, right next to Harringay railway station. It's a great place to read and learn.
Getting Around Stroud Green
Stroud Green is well-connected by public transport. Stroud Green Road runs north-west from the busy Finsbury Park station. This station is a major hub for trains and the London Underground.
The road ends close to Crouch Hill railway station, which is on the Gospel Oak to Barking line. On the eastern side of Stroud Green, you'll find Harringay railway station.
You can also travel by bus! London bus routes W3, W7, and 210 all travel along Stroud Green Road. They all end at Finsbury Park.
Stroud Green's Old Railway Station
Stroud Green used to have its own railway station. It closed down in 1954. This station was part of a line that went from Finsbury Park to Edgware. There were plans to add it to the Northern line of the London Underground, but World War II stopped those plans.
