Strout is a very small community in Minnesota, United States. It's located in Meeker County, near a town called Litchfield. Strout is an unincorporated community, which means it's not officially a city or town with its own local government. It's more like a neighborhood or a group of homes.

Strout is found near where two roads meet: Meeker County Roads 1 and 28. Only about 25 people live in Strout, making it a very quiet place.

Max and Quackers: An Unlikely Friendship

Strout was once home to a famous duo named Max and Quackers. Max is a Siberian Husky dog who lives with a family in the community. He was adopted when he was five years old. Max quickly became friends with the family's other husky, Sasha.

Sadly, Sasha passed away, and Max became very sad. Soon after, the family adopted a baby duck named Quackers. Quackers had also lost his own family. To help Max feel better, he often sat near Quackers' pen. They spent a lot of time together and became very close friends.

Max and Quackers were often seen walking together along Meeker County Road 28. Their special friendship became so well-known that they were featured on local news stations, including CBS Minnesota, in 2017.

The Strout General Store

The Strout General Store was an important place in the community. It was opened by Jake Hess and his wife, Hilda Anderson Hess. The store sold many different items that people needed. Jake Hess also worked as a carpenter from the store.

Jake Hess passed away in 1970, and Hilda Hess passed away in 1973. The original building where the store was located is now a home for a family in Strout. It no longer operates as a general store, but it remains a part of the community's history.
