Suhasini's full birth name is Suhasini Charuhasan. She was born in Paramakudi, India. When she was 12 years old, she moved to Madras. She lived there with her uncle, the famous actor Kamal Haasan. Her cousins, Anu Hasan, Shruti Haasan, and Akshara Haasan, are also actors.

Suhasini has had a long and successful career in movies. She is known for her acting, directing, and writing.
As an Actress
Suhasini started her acting journey in 1980. Her first film was the Tamil movie Nenjathai Killathe. She won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress for this role. She also acted in Malayalam films, starting with Koodevide in 1983. This movie also starred Mammootty.
She worked with actor Vishnuvardhan in several Kannada films. Some of these include Bandhana (1984) and Muthina Haara (1990). In 1985, she won the prestigious National Film Award for Best Actress. This was for her role in the Tamil film Sindhu Bhairavi.
