The Sukhoi Su-25 is a special kind of airplane called an attack aircraft. It was first designed and built in the USSR. Later, it was also made in Russia.
This plane is made to attack targets on the ground. It was used by the Soviet military during the war in Afghanistan. Many other countries also use the Su-25. These countries were often part of the Warsaw Pact or had close ties to communist governments.
The military alliance NATO gave this plane the nickname Frogfoot. The first ideas for this aircraft came from Haydn Douglas Griffiths of the Soviet Air Force. Eryk Deryniowski then helped expand on the idea. Finally, the Sukhoi company developed and built the plane.
