Sumner is a city located in the state of Iowa, United States. It sits on the eastern edge of Bremer County, Iowa, right where it meets Fayette County. In 2020, about 2,030 people lived in Sumner. This part of Sumner is also considered part of the larger Waterloo-Cedar Falls area.

The town of Sumner was started in 1870. It officially became a city in 1894. The community is named after Charles Sumner, an important American political leader from the past. Sumner is also home to Life Line Emergency Vehicles, a company that makes ambulances.
