Sun Mingming (born August 23, 1983) is a former professional basketball player from China. He is famous for being one of the tallest basketball players ever.
The Guinness World Records measured him at 2.36 m (7 ft 9 in) (about 7 feet 9 inches) tall. He also weighed 168 kg (370 lb) (about 370 pounds).

Early Life and Starting Basketball
Sun Mingming was born in a small town in Heilongjiang Province, China. He has one brother and one sister.
He did not start playing basketball until he was 15 years old. This is a bit later than many professional players.
College Basketball Journey
Sun went to Ventura College in California, USA. He played basketball for their team during the 2005–2006 season. After that, he decided to become a professional player.
Playing Basketball Around the World
Sun Mingming played for several different teams in various countries.
Playing in the United States
Sun played for a few smaller basketball teams in the United States. These included the Dodge City Legend and the Maryland Nighthawks. He also played for the Grand Rapids Flight.
In 2007, the famous Harlem Globetrotters team drafted him. He was the tallest player they had ever picked. However, he never actually played in a game for them.
Playing in Mexico and Japan
After his time in the U.S., Sun played basketball in other countries. He played for a team called Fuerza Regia in Mexico.
Later, he moved to Japan to play for the Hamamatsu Phoenix team.
Returning to China
In 2009, Sun Mingming went back to China. He joined the Beijing Ducks team. He played for them in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) until 2012.
Personal Life and Records
In 2005, doctors found a small, harmless growth near Sun's brain. It was called a tumor and was affecting his body. He needed surgery to remove it.
His sports agent helped raise money for the surgery. The operation was successful, and Sun got better.
On August 4, 2013, Sun Mingming married Xu Yan. She is also very tall, at 6 feet 2 inches (1.88 m) (about 1.88 meters).
Together, they are recognized by Guinness World Records as the tallest living married couple. Their combined height is an amazing 13 feet 10.72 inches (423.47 cm) (about 4.23 meters)!

Besides basketball, Sun Mingming has also appeared in movies and TV shows. He often played roles that used his tall height.
