Susan Clark, born Nora Golding on March 8, 1943, is a talented Canadian actress. She has starred in many movies and TV shows. She is well-known for playing famous real-life women.
Susan made her first big movie appearance in 1967. This was in the drama film Banning. The next year, she had a main role in the crime thriller Coogan's Bluff. She also appeared in popular films like Airport 1975 and The Apple Dumpling Gang.
She won an Emmy Award for playing athlete Babe Didrikson Zaharias in the 1975 TV movie Babe. She was also nominated for another Emmy for playing pilot Amelia Earhart in a 1976 TV film. From 1983 to 1989, Susan starred as Katherine Papadopolis in the TV show Webster. She acted alongside her husband, Alex Karras, in this show.

Susan Clark's Early Life and Training
Susan Clark was born as Nora Golding. Her birthplace was Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. She grew up in Toronto. There, she went to Northern Secondary School.
At just 15 years old, Susan started her acting career. She performed on stage in the musical Silk Stockings. A famous actor, Don Ameche, also starred in this show. After high school, Susan moved to London, England. She studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. For two years, she learned and performed in many classic and modern plays.
Susan Clark's Acting Career
In the early 1960s, Susan Clark lived in London. She started appearing on British television. She had guest roles in shows like The Plane Makers and The Benny Hill Show. She also performed on the London stage in a play called Poor Bitos. The play and Susan received good reviews.
However, Susan returned to Canada in 1965. This was because her father became ill. Back home, she appeared in several episodes of the TV series Festival.
Becoming a Film Star
In 1967, Susan began working for Universal Pictures. She appeared in many TV series for them. She also made her first feature film, Banning. Susan then got main roles in several Universal movies. These included Coogan's Bluff with Clint Eastwood in 1968. She also starred in Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here with Robert Redford in 1969. Other films were Valdez Is Coming with Burt Lancaster in 1971 and Showdown with Dean Martin in 1973.
Later, she appeared in Night Moves with Gene Hackman in 1975. She was also in the disaster film Airport 1975. Another popular film was The Apple Dumpling Gang with Bill Bixby in 1975. In 1979, she was in another disaster film, City on Fire.
Award-Winning TV Roles
Susan Clark starred in the 1975 TV movie Babe. She played the famous multi-sport athlete Babe Didrikson Zaharias. Her amazing performance earned her an Emmy Award in 1976.
In 1976, she starred in a three-hour TV movie about the pilot Amelia Earhart. This movie also showed Amelia's marriage to publisher G. P. Putnam. Susan received an Emmy nomination for Best Actress for this role.
Susan also played Dr. Cleo Markham in Colossus: The Forbin Project. She was Cherry Forever in the movie Porky's, where her husband Alex Karras also acted. She played Elizabeth Murray in the TV series Emily of New Moon. She also appeared as Beth Chadwick in the TV show Columbo.
From 1983 to 1989, Susan and Alex Karras played husband and wife on the popular TV show Webster. They acted together for six years. In 2006 and 2007, Susan performed in stage plays at the Manitoba Theatre Centre.
Susan Clark's Personal Life
Susan Clark married American football player and actor Alex Karras in 1980. They first met when they were acting together in the TV movie Babe. In that movie, Alex played her character's husband, professional wrestler George Zaharias.
Later, Susan and Alex starred together as husband and wife on the popular TV show Webster. Their daughter, Katie, was born in 1980. Susan and Alex were married for 32 years. Alex Karras passed away on October 10, 2012.
