Svenljunga Municipality (Svenljunga kommun) is a special area in western Sweden. It is like a local government area. It is found in Västra Götaland County. The main town, or "seat," of the municipality is Svenljunga.
This municipality was formed in 1971. It brought together five smaller local areas. Before that, in 1863, there were 14 separate small areas.
The beautiful Ätran River flows through the municipality. It winds through a lovely valley. The river even passes through the town of Svenljunga. There, you can see an old bridge crossing the water.
Did you know that the great-great-great grandfather of Emma Stone lived here? She is a famous American actress. Also, in the 1700s, a village called Mårdaklev in Svenljunga Municipality was home to three talented siblings. They were textile artists: Sven Erlandsson, Katarina Erlandsdotter, and Lisa Erlandsdotter.
