Switzer is a small, unincorporated community in Logan County, West Virginia, West Virginia, United States. It's also called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's a special area defined by the government for counting people. The Switzer CDP also includes the nearby community of Micco. In 2010, about 595 people lived here.
The community probably got its name from the local Switzer family, who lived in the area a long time ago.

Where is Switzer located?
Switzer is in the southwestern part of Logan County. It sits along a stream called Island Creek. West Virginia Route 44 is a main road that goes through the community.
If you travel about 6 miles (10 km) north on WV-44, you'll reach Logan. Logan is the main town and the "county seat" for Logan County. This means it's where the county government is located.
Land and Water Around Switzer
According to the United States Census Bureau, the Switzer area covers about 6.1 square kilometers (2.4 square miles). Most of this area is land. Only a small part, about 0.06 square kilometers (0.023 square miles), is water.
The water in Switzer, mainly Island Creek, flows into the Guyandotte River. This river then travels north and joins the Ohio River near a city called Huntington. This whole system is called a "watershed," which is an area of land where all the water drains into a common river or lake.
