Early Life and Education
Tage Danielsson was born on February 5, 1928, in Linköping, Sweden. His father, Ivar Danielsson, was a bus driver. Tage finished high school at Katedralskolan in Linköping in 1948.
He then went to Uppsala University and earned a Master of Philosophy degree in 1954. While at university, he enjoyed student theater. He also became a member of a student society called Juvenalorden.
Creative Career
After finishing university, Tage Danielsson started working at Sveriges Radio in 1955. This was a big radio station in Sweden. He quickly moved up, becoming a manager in the entertainment department.
Working with Hans Alfredson
At Sveriges Radio, Tage met Hans Alfredson. They became great friends and creative partners. In 1961, they started their own entertainment company called AB Svenska Ord (which means "Swedish Words Ltd").
Together, Danielsson and Alfredson wrote, directed, and acted in many popular shows and films. They were known for their clever humor and witty comments on society.
Film Achievements
Tage Danielsson directed several successful films. He won important awards for his work.
- In 1972, he won the Best Director award at the 8th Guldbagge Awards for his film The Apple War (1971).
- His film Release the Prisoners to Spring (1975) won the Best Film award at the 12th Guldbagge Awards.
- Another film, The Adventures of Picasso (1978), also won the Best Film award at the 14th Guldbagge Awards.
In 1985, his film Ronia, the Robber's Daughter (1984) was shown at the 35th Berlin International Film Festival. This film was based on a famous book by Astrid Lindgren.
Humor and Activism
Tage Danielsson and Svenska Ord were known for their unique humor. They would often make sharp comments about current events. They did this in a friendly and seemingly simple way. This style often made even people who disagreed with them enjoy their humor.

Personal Life
In 1955, Tage Danielsson married Märta-Stina Köhler. They had one son named Patrik, who was born in 1961.
In 1983, something unexpected happened. Tage Danielsson's summer house in Corsica was bombed. He had owned the house for many years. Luckily, he had left for Sweden a week before the attack. The house was completely destroyed. The attack was carried out by a group that wanted Corsica to be independent from France.
Later Years and Legacy
Tage Danielsson passed away in 1985 from skin cancer. He was a beloved figure in Sweden.
Today, you can see a statue of him outside his old school in Linköping. It reminds people of his great contributions to Swedish culture and entertainment.
