Tak and the Guardians of Gross is a fun platform video game that came out in 2008. It was made by Blitz Games and published by THQ. You can play it on Wii and PlayStation 2. This game is the fourth one in the Tak series.

Game Story: Tak's Big Adventure

The game starts with Tak complaining about cleaning a place called the Spoiled Shrine. His friend Jeera offers to help, but Tak decides to take a shortcut through the jungle. Even though his friend Keeko warns him, Tak goes anyway.

The Broken Gem and Big Gs

After a long journey through the jungle, Tak finally reaches the shrine. He fights his way to the top. Tak tries to lift a giant gem, but his magic isn't strong enough. The gem falls and breaks into pieces. When it breaks, the ground shakes, and strange magic flies out. Suddenly, four huge monsters called Big Gs appear. They start causing trouble everywhere!

Meeting the Jujus and Fighting Monsters

Tak goes back to his village. Jibolba tells him that he needs to see four special spirits called the Guardians of Gross. These spirits will help him fix things.

  • Debris Juju: Tak meets Debris Juju first. After winning a mini-game, Tak gets a new power called Lumpy Magic. He then goes to fight the first Big G, named Trashthulu. Tak uses a catapult to jump onto Trashthulu. He uses his Lumpy Magic to reach the monster's head. Inside, he finds the monster's special "essence gem." Tak has to hit the monster's eyes with his staff to defeat it. Once both eyes are hit, Tak jumps out, and Trashthulu turns into stone and falls apart.
  • Icky Juju: Next, Tak meets Icky Juju and gets Slime Magic. Tak surfs on a river of slime to reach the monster Slopviathan. He has to get through the slime to reach the monster's head. Once there, he pumps Slopviathan's eyes with Slime Magic until they explode! He grabs the essence, and Slopviathan turns to stone.
  • Melty Juju: Then, Tak meets Melty Juju, who gives him Cheesy Magic. Tak waits, but then he gets eaten by a monster named Gorgonzilla! Inside the monster, Tak travels through its body. He reaches the monster's lower jaw. He hits the monster's sore teeth, which makes its top jaw fly open. Tak then hits the monster's uvula (the dangly bit at the back of its throat). This makes the monster's essence fly out, and Gorgonzilla turns to stone.
  • Stinky Juju: Finally, Tak goes to Stinky Juju and gets Stinky Magic. He heads to the last monster, Stinkolossus, through another jungle path. He has to fight his way to the top of the monster, battling smaller stink beasts. When he reaches the top, he floats on platforms around Stinkolossus. He fights the smaller beasts again. Then, he must hit the monster's own Stink Bombs back at it. This makes Stinkolossus spit out its essence, and Tak escapes.

The Final Battle

With all the essences collected, Tak can now fix the broken gem. But as he's about to put the essences back, Stinky Juju returns. Tak trips, and the monsters are free again! Just when Tak thinks all hope is lost, Stinky Juju tells him there's another way. Tak needs to collect slime from all the Big Gs. Then, if he burps, it will defeat them for good! After a race in the J-Runner vehicle, Tak does exactly that. Tak celebrates, and the game ends!

How to Play: Game Features

This game is a platformer. This means you control Tak as he jumps over obstacles and runs through walls. You'll use cool moves, almost like parkour, to get around.

Exploring Big Gs and Mini-Games

Many levels involve Tak climbing up the bodies of the huge Big G monsters. He needs to reach their heads to fight them in a boss battle. Between most of the main levels, Tak plays mini-games. These mini-games can also be played with a friend! The Juju guardians challenge Tak in these games. If he wins, he gets new magical powers. These powers help him defeat the Big Gs. You can use these special powers in certain areas during the levels.
