Takefumi Toma (當間 建文, Toma Takefumi, born 21 March 1989 in Okinawa) is a Japanese retired football player. He played as a centre-back, which is a defender who plays in the middle of the field.

Takefumi Toma was born on March 21, 1989, in Okinawa, Japan. He grew up loving football and became a professional player. He was known for his strong defense on the field.

His Early Football Journey

Takefumi Toma started his football journey in high school. From 2004 to 2006, he played for Tokai University Daigo High School. After finishing school, he joined his first professional club, Kashima Antlers, in 2007.

Playing for Japan

Takefumi Toma also represented his country. He was chosen to play for the Japan Under-23 (U-23) squad. In 2010, he traveled to Guangzhou, China PR, for the 2010 Asian Games. His team performed very well and won a gold medal in the football competition.

Kashima Antlers (2007–2011)

He started his professional career with Kashima Antlers. Even though he didn't play many games, he was part of a very successful team. During his time there, Kashima Antlers won the J1 League three times in a row (2007, 2008, 2009). They also won the Emperor's Cup twice (2007, 2010) and the J.League Cup once (2011).

Tochigi SC (2012–2013)

After leaving Kashima Antlers, Toma moved to Tochigi SC in 2012. He played in the J2 League with this club. He became a regular player here, appearing in 29 games in 2012 and 30 games in 2013. He scored a total of 3 goals for Tochigi SC.

Montedio Yamagata (2014–2015)

In 2014, Toma joined Montedio Yamagata. He continued to play in the J2 League and helped his team reach the Emperor's Cup final in 2014. In 2015, Montedio Yamagata was promoted to the J1 League, the top football league in Japan. Toma played 22 games in the J1 League that season.

Matsumoto Yamaga (2016–2019)

From 2016 to 2019, Takefumi Toma played for Matsumoto Yamaga. He was an important part of their defense in the J2 League. In 2019, he also had a short loan spell at FC Gifu, where he played 14 games and scored 1 goal.

Retirement

Takefumi Toma retired from professional football after the 2019 season. He had a long career playing for various clubs and achieved success with his teams.
