About Tamara Bower
Tamara Bower has loved painting and drawing since she was a little kid. Her mom, who was also an artist, taught her a lot. She also fell in love with ancient Egypt when she was young.
After college, where she studied painting and drawing, Tamara learned how to be a special artist at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1992. For almost ten years after that, she worked as an illustrator at the Brooklyn Museum of Art.
Her Work as an Illustrator
Tamara Bower has spent seven seasons working at different archaeological digs. An archaeological dig is a place where scientists carefully dig up old things from the past. As an archaeological illustrator, she draws pictures of these ancient objects.
Her drawing style is inspired by the old art she has seen from Assyria and Egypt. These are ancient civilizations with amazing art.
Her Books for Kids
Tamara started writing and drawing books for children before the year 2000. She has published three books in the early 2000s. Her books are set in ancient Egypt.
She often includes real hieroglyphs in her stories. Hieroglyphs are the ancient Egyptian writing system. Her books also have notes that explain where she got her ideas and how they connect to history.
