Tangmarg is a lovely town and a special administrative area called a tehsil. It is located in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, a union territory in India. In 2014, Tangmarg became a sub-division. This means it was divided into three smaller tehsils: Tangmarg, Kunzer, and Karhama. The main office for this sub-division is in Tangmarg.

This town is very important because it is a central hub for over 100 nearby villages. Tangmarg is also known as the "gateway to Gulmarg", a famous tourist spot just 13 kilometers away. You can easily get to Tangmarg by taxi or bus. Transport is available from cities like Srinagar, Baramulla, Magam, Sopore, Gulmarg, and Pattan. The town is also not far from the Mazhama Railway station.

There are plans to build new roads to connect Tangmarg with other areas. One road from Tangmarg to Gogaldara is being built. This road will link Tangmarg with the Khag area of Budgam district. Another road from Drung to Poonch district is also being considered by the government.

The history of Tangmarg goes back to the time of the Mughal Empire. It was an important entry point to Gulmarg. The name "Tangmarg" comes from local words: "Tang" means pear, and "Marg" means meadow. You can still find many pear, cherry, and apple trees in the villages around Tangmarg.
