Tara Davis-Woodhall, born on May 20, 1999, is an amazing American athlete who competes in track and field. She is best known for her incredible long jump skills. Tara won a gold medal in the long jump at the 2024 Summer Olympics and a silver medal at the 2023 World Athletics Championships. In 2017, she set a new record for American junior women in the indoor long jump. She also placed 6th in the long jump final at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Besides long jump, Tara is also a talented hurdler.

Early Life and School
Tara Davis-Woodhall was born Tara Davis in Mesquite, Texas. Her parents are Ty and Rayshon Davis. Her father was also a track and field athlete at Texas A&M University. Tara grew up in Frisco, Texas, and is the youngest of five children.
She graduated from Agoura High School in Agoura Hills, California in 2017. There, she was a top track and field athlete. After high school, she went to the University of Georgia. She competed for the Georgia Bulldogs track team. After one year, she moved to the University of Texas. She then competed for the Texas Longhorns.
Amazing Career Highlights
High School Achievements
Tara Davis-Woodhall broke the American junior record for indoor long jump. This happened at a sports event in Frisco, Texas on February 11, 2017. She jumped an impressive 6.68 meters.
Later that year, while running for Agoura High School, she won three events. This was at the CIF California State Meet. She won the 100 meters hurdles in 12.83 seconds. This time beat the National high school record. However, it was helped by a strong wind. Her jump is the best ever under all conditions.
She also set a new state record in the long jump. Her jump of 22 feet, 1 inch broke a 24-year-old record. That old record was held by Olympian Marion Jones. A few weeks before, Tara ran the hurdles in 12.89 seconds. This was the second fastest legal race in history. She was named the Ventura County Track and Field Athlete of the Year.
College Success
After high school in 2017, Tara went to the University of Georgia. Her coach there was Petros Kyprianou. She broke the world under-20 record in the 60 meter hurdles. She ran it in 7.98 seconds. This happened at the NCAA Women's Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships in 2018.
At the same competition, she placed third in the long jump. This meant the University of Georgia team swept the top three spots. She finished behind Keturah Orji and Kate Hall.
In 2018, after one season at Georgia, Tara moved to the University of Texas. She could not compete right away because of transfer rules. She had to appeal a decision by her old coach. She finally started competing in the 2019–20 track season.
In 2021, Tara jumped 7.14 meters at the Texas Relays in Austin. This set a new collegiate record. This jump placed her among the top 30 long jumpers of all time.
International Competitions
Tara Davis-Woodhall qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics. She jumped 7.04 meters to place second at the Olympic Trials in June 2021. She finished sixth in the women's long jump final at the Olympics. Her best jump was 6.84 meters.
In February 2023, Tara won the national long jumping title. This was at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Albuquerque. Her winning jump was 6.99 meters. However, she was later not allowed to keep the title due to a rule violation. She received a short suspension of one month.
Tara won a silver medal in the women's long jump at the 2023 World Athletics Championships. This event was in Budapest, Hungary. Her jump was 6.91 meters. She also competed at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships. There, she won a gold medal in the long jump with a distance of 7.07 meters.
Tara Davis-Woodhall won the gold medal in the long jump at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Her winning jump was 7.10 meters. She celebrated with her husband, Hunter Woodhall. He later won a gold medal at the 2024 Summer Paralympics. Tara was nominated for her first World Athletics Awards because of her gold medals in 2024.
Coaching Role
As of August 2024, Tara serves as an assistant coach. She helps the Kansas State University track and field team.

Personal Life
Tara Davis-Woodhall married Paralympian Hunter Woodhall on October 16, 2022. They first met at a track meet in Idaho in 2017. They also have a YouTube channel together where they share their lives.
