Tara Davis-Woodhall (born May 20, 1999) is an American track and field athlete. She is famous for her amazing skills in the long jump event. Tara won a gold medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. She also earned a silver medal at the 2023 World Athletics Championships. In 2017, she set a new American junior record for indoor long jump. She also finished 6th in the long jump at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Tara is also a talented hurdler.

Early Life and Family Background
Tara Davis-Woodhall was born in Agoura Hills, California. Her parents are Ty and Rayshon Davis. Her father used to be a track and field athlete at Texas A&M. Tara is the youngest of five children in her family.
High School Achievements
While in high school, Tara Davis-Woodhall broke a big record. On February 11, 2017, she set the American junior record for indoor long jump. She jumped an impressive 6.68 m (21 ft 10.86712599 in) meters in Frisco, Texas.
Later that year, Tara competed for Agoura High School. She won three events at the CIF California State Meet. She won the 100 meters hurdles race. Her time of 12.83 seconds was a new National high school record. However, a strong wind helped her achieve this time.
She also set a new state record in the long jump. Her jump of 22 ft 1 in (6.73 m) feet beat a 24-year-old record. This old record was held by Olympian Marion Jones. A few weeks earlier, Tara ran the hurdles in 12.89 seconds. This was the second fastest legal race time ever. She was named the Ventura County Track and Field Athlete of the Year.
After high school, Tara went to the University of Georgia. There, she trained with coach Petros Kyprianou.
College Career Highlights
As a student athlete at the University of Georgia, Tara continued to shine. She broke the world under-20 record in the 60 meter hurdles. She ran it in 7.98 seconds at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. In the same competition, she placed 3rd in the long jump.
After one season at Georgia, she moved to the University of Texas. She had to wait to compete due to transfer rules. She was finally able to compete in the 2019–2020 track season.
In 2021, Tara made another record-breaking jump. She jumped 7.14 meters at the Texas Relays in Austin. This set a new collegiate record. This amazing jump placed her among the top 30 long jumpers of all time.
Professional Career and Olympic Success
Tara Davis-Woodhall qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics in June 2021. She jumped 7.04 meters at the Olympic Trials, placing second. At the Olympic final, she finished sixth in the women's long jump. Her best distance there was 6.84 meters.
In February 2023, Tara won the national long jumping title. This was at the USA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Albuquerque. She jumped 6.99 meters to win.
Tara won a silver medal at the 2023 World Athletics Championships. This event was held in Budapest, Hungary. She jumped 6.91 meters in the women's long jump.
She competed at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships. There, she won a gold medal in the long jump. Her winning jump was 7.07 meters.
Currently, Tara also works as an assistant coach. She helps the Kansas State University Track and Field team.
Tara achieved her biggest dream at the 2024 Summer Olympics. She won the gold medal in the long jump. Her winning distance was 7.10 meters. She celebrated this amazing win with her husband, Hunter Woodhall. Hunter also won a gold medal at the 2024 Summer Paralympics.
Because of her gold medals in 2024, Tara was nominated for her first World Athletics Awards.
