Tarik Glenn (born May 25, 1976) is a former American professional football player. He played as an offensive tackle for 10 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts in the National Football League (NFL). Tarik played college football for the California Golden Bears. The Colts picked him in the first round of the 1997 NFL draft. He was chosen as a Pro Bowl player three times. Tarik was also a key part of the Colts team that won Super Bowl XLI against the Chicago Bears.
Tarik's Early Life and College Football
Tarik Glenn played football at Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland, California. He was a lineman who played both offense and defense. After high school, he went to the University of California, Berkeley. There, he played college football for the California Golden Bears.
Tarik played for four years in college. For two of those years, he was a starter on the team. He first played as a defensive tackle. Then, in his third year, he moved to play as an offensive tackle.
Playing in the NFL
The Indianapolis Colts picked Tarik Glenn in the first round of the 1997 NFL draft. He was the 19th player chosen overall. Tarik played in all 16 games in seven of his 10 seasons as a professional player. In 2003, he missed six games because of a knee injury.
Tarik was first chosen for the Pro Bowl after the 2004 season. The Pro Bowl is a special game where the best players from the NFL play against each other. He was picked for the Pro Bowl three times in a row. For the 2006 Pro Bowl, he was first told he didn't get enough votes. But he ended up playing in the game anyway, replacing another player who was hurt.
On July 24, 2007, Tarik announced he was retiring from football. This was after his team, the Colts, won Super Bowl XLI the season before. He said he had lost his passion for playing the game. Years later, in 2022, Tarik Glenn was honored by the Indianapolis Colts. His name was added to the Indianapolis Colts Ring of Honor. This is a special award for players who have made a big impact on the team.
Tarik's Life After Football
In August 2011, Tarik Glenn became the President of D.R.E.A.M. Alive, Inc. This is a non-profit organization based in Indianapolis. Tarik and his wife, Maya, started this group.
Tarik also continued his education. He earned his college degree in Social Welfare from UC Berkeley in 1999. Later, he went back to school and got a Master of Business Administration degree in 2012.
